    The Pod Hotel

Is smaller better? Not always, but when traveling on the cheap, it’s usually all that you can afford. Dwell Blog highlights some “pod” hotels that, while not as inexpensive as a hostel, are more affordable than regular chain hotels. The Pod Hotel in New York City has mod designs and lots of little extras, like a stereo docking station for your iPod (and the bunkbeds are so summer camp). In London, YOtel is building “cabins” at Heathrow and Gatwick airports that can be rented for four hours or overnight, a great option if your have a long layover or want to make sure you don’t miss your early morning flight.
